HANDS Foundation has organized a staff training and orientation session on the Sindh Government Solar Energy Project (SSEP), backed by the World Bank. This initiative is a major step toward expanding solar power generation and improving electricity access across Karachi, Hyderabad, Umerkot, Thatta, Sukkur, Ghotki, and Kashmore.

The project focuses on:

  • Utility-Scale Solar Power – Developing solar parks and launching Pakistan’s first 50 MW pilot solar auction to boost renewable energy production.
  • Distributed Solar Energy – Installing 20 MW of rooftop solar systems in public buildings to promote energy efficiency and sustainability.
  • Solar Home Systems – Delivering clean and affordable solar energy to 200,000 off-grid households, enhancing rural electrification.
  • Institutional Capacity Building – Strengthening Sindh’s solar energy sector by improving policy frameworks, infrastructure, and workforce development.

This transformative project aligns with Pakistan’s clean energy transition, supporting sustainable development, climate resilience, and energy security.
