A high-level delegation visited the flood-affected areas of Badin District as part of the post-response monitoring of the Livelihood Assistance Project, jointly supported by the Government of Japan and UNFAO in response to the devastating 2022 floods.
The delegation included Ms. Tomoko Vazeer First Secretary Japanese Embassy in Pakistan, and Leonor Fernández
Partnerships, planning and implementation support
FAO Representative Office Islamabad, along with senior officials from UNFAO Sindh, and the Government of Sindh’s Departments of Agriculture and Livestock.
They were warmly welcomed and accompanied by Mr. Anis Danish (Chief of Services, HANDS) and Mr. Guhram (Program Manager) during the visit.
During their field mission, the delegation engaged directly with affected communities, visited intervention sites, and observed key activities such as:
✅ Construction of animal shelters
✅ Poultry farming initiatives
✅ Goat distribution to support income generation
✅ Promotion of kitchen gardening for food security
The delegation highly appreciated the active participation of local communities and commended the effective, impactful implementation led by HANDS, the UNFAO district team, and local stakeholders.
