Another milestone achieved in the development of HANDS Institute of Development Studies. The delegation from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Foundation including Dr. Nadeem Taj, Managing Director, Mr. Haroon Ur Rasheed Director Procurement and Technical Expert (Chief Hematologist) visited HANDS Head Office and planted trees on the premises. They also emphasized the expansion of HANDS services in KP.
CBM Christian Blind Mission International Delegation includes Mr. Syed Muhammed Ali Shah, Country Director CBM Pakistan, Mr. Dominique Schlupkothen, Director CBID Initiative, Mr. Luc Pariot, Regional Advisor CBID Asia, Mr. Talal Waheed, Global Advisor DiDRR CBM International, and CBM country office officials visited HANDS Head Office Karachi for a Partnership meeting on CBID Initiatives and Inclusive Eye Health Project implemented by HANDS in collaboration with CBM in district Layyah, Punjab. The meeting was hosted by HANDS management. CBM delegate acknowledges the integration of CBID themes into actions in the IEH project from community to governance level in district Layyah. Moreover, partnership avenues were discussed to promote CBID approaches among development programs.
The District Administration Malir signed an MoU with HANDS at Commissioner, Karachi office, as part of Malir Reform Project and streamlining E-governance system in the District. Under the Agreement, HANDS will facilitate the Reform Project and provide assistance in establishing a digital system and database
Country Director World Bank, Mr. Najy Benhassine, with his team visited HANDS Independent Living Center, Karachi and met CE HANDS, Dr. Shaikh Tanveer Ahmed, and HANDS ILC team. CE HANDS gave a brief introduction about HANDS’ services and overall projects. They also had a meeting regarding the economic empowerment, clean water, sanitation, education and hygiene issues in urban slums of Lines Area.
HANDS initiated its disaster response in cholera affected and drought stricken region of #Pirkoh, #DeraBugti. Life saving medicines were handed over to district health office while several fresh water tankers provided relief to local communities and their livestock
Senior Advisor Dr. Muhammad Sarwat Mirza and Executive Manager Ms. Sumera Javeed of HANDS PAKISTAN met Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf at Parliament House. He appreciated the contributions of HANDS PAKISTAN to the betterment of society & community development. They shared that the organization is working on health, low-income housing projects, infrastructure development, alternate energy solutions, Water sanitation & Hygiene, Education & Literacy, Livelihood enhancement & disaster management.
Dr. Shaikh Tanveer Ahmed, Chief Executive HANDS, came on air on ARY News’s show, Sham-e-Ramzan. He shared how he began his journey of humanity with HANDS Pakistan, and our contribution to improving health, promoting education, and alleviating poverty with a focused approach towards vulnerable groups, such as persons with disabilities.
On the occasion of Earth Day 2022, HANDS staff in collaboration with Sindh Forest Department planted over 150 mangroves in Korangi Creek area of Karachi. This year’s theme reflects how important it is to invest in our planet and its needs.
