Prof. A. Gaffar Billoo
Founding Chairman
Professor Abdul Gaffar Billoo is the founder/ father of HANDS and served as chairperson of governing board from inception to 2019. He is a philanthropist and associated with these services since 1975. He is a renowned pediatrician of Pakistan. He received his Diploma in Child Health, Tropical Medicine, and Hygiene from the United Kingdom in 1962. He qualified for his MRCP and FRCP and was appointed a Fellow of Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1986. He was awarded with Sitara e-Imtiaz for public services, the most prestigious civilian award in March 2007. He was former Professor of Pediatrics & Head of the Department of Pediatrics, Dow Medical & Civil Hospital Karachi, Dean Faculty of Medicine, University of Karachi. Currently Professor, Department of Pediatrics and Child Health, Professor Emeritus Aga Khan University Hospital & Consultant Pediatrician.
Dr. Saeed Ismail

Dr. Saeed Ismail did his MBBS from Dow Medical College Karachi in 1983 and received his MCPS in pediatrics from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan in 1986. Did his MBA from IBA and Pakistan Institute of Management in 2007 with a specialization in Human Resource Management and Marketing. Fellow of SEDC LUMS with training as Master Trainer in People and Organization Management. Fellow of LEAD with training in Leadership and Environment issues from LEAD International. He has conducted numerous workshops on primary health care and community mobilization and is the Founder and Executive Director of the f Society for Children with Autism and Learning Differences (SCALED) & the Pakistan Centre for Autism. He is the Co-founder and Chairman of the Health and Nutrition Development Society (HANDS). Member Kiran Foundation. Member Noor e Ali Trust running JS Academy for Deaf. Member Managing Committee Central Lab of Civil Hospital Karachi. Executive Director of Baanhn Beli (1983-2007). full-time Consultant Pediatrician Aga Khan University Hospital (For Agha Khan Diagnostic Centre and Agha Khan Hospital for Women and Children Kharadar). Visiting Consultant Pediatrician Medicare Hospital. Visiting Consultant RIMS Hospital. Graduate of Dars e Nizami from Jamia Darul Uloom Korangi. Teaching Quranic Arabic, Tafseer, and Fiqh at Darul Hikmah Institute. Also teaching Quranic Arabic at Ihsan Institute.
Mr. Ali Husain Brohi

Mr. Ali Hussain Brohi received his MBA from the Institute of Business Administration. He is an Associate Member at The Institute of Bankers Pakistan. He is on the Board of Directors at Security Papers Ltd., SICPA Inks Pakistan Pvt. Ltd and Pakistan Security Printing Corp. Ltd. Mr. Brohi was previously employed as Head-South Region by State Bank of Pakistan and Ex. CEO & Executive Director at Security Paper Ltd.
Ms. Siraj–un-Nisa Isani
General Secretary
Ms. Siraj-un-Nisa Isani is giving her services to HANDS for the last 28 years. She has done a Bachelor of Science in Health Care and she served as Nursing Director at Kidney Center. She has also worked in Lady Dufferin and Holy Family Hospital. She has extensive experience in community health and development. She keenly observes activities of health and education of HANDS in Karachi rural, specially Jamkanda hospital and Foundation Assisted Schools-FAS.
Mr. Ghulam Hussain Baloch
Finance Secretary
Mr. Ghulam Husain Baloch is one of the founding members of HANDS. He has done Masters’s in Economics. He is a Senior Member of the Sindh Graduate Association and a member of the Board of Sindh Madrasa. He was former Chairman of Wadela Balouch Welfare Organization and a member of the Social Welfare Committee of district East for many years. He has comprehensive experience of community development. He has done remarkable work for the engagement of youth and established LAL 11 Football club and Alqasim Cricket Club at Dur Muhammad Village, District Malir.
Dr. Abdul Rashid Memon

Dr. Abdul Rashid Memon did his MBBS from Liaquat University of Medical Health Sciences, Jamshoro, and residency in Pediatrics and Child Health at Aga Khan University where he is currently a lecturer in the same department. He is the Founder Member of the Cystic Fibrosis Association of Pakistan and PSIMD (Pakistan Society of Inborn Error of Metabolic Diseases), Member Governing Board of the Society for Children with Autism and Learning Differences (SCALeD) and Pakistan Pediatric Association.
Mr. Younus Bandhani

Mr. Younus Bandhani is a is a Trustee of Trust for Democratic Education and Accountability (TDEA) Board. He has earned a Master degree in Mathematics. Mr. Bandhani is a strong believer of civil liberty and actively engaged in various national networks and movements on democracy and human rights. His primary focus is empowering women, girl children, religious minorities, untouchable caste and poorest of the poor in Sindh.
Prof. Aijaz Vohra

Prof. Aijaz Vohra is a member of Governing Board of HANDS. He is among the Best General Physicians in Karachi. He has an MBBS, MD (Medicine), and FRCP (Medicine) degree along with an extensive experience of 34 years. He is Head and Dean of Medicine Ziauddin University, Karachi, and also giving his services as General Physician, Gastroenterologist, Family Physician at Zia Uddin Hospital and is Former Head of the Department of Medicine JPMC, Karachi.
Ms. Kausar S Khan

Ms. Kausar Saeed Khan is a member of the Governing Board of HANDS. She has been a full-time faculty member, for nearly 25 years, of the Community Health Sciences department of Aga Khan University, where she taught undergraduate medical students, developed and directed a graduate course on Health, Equity, Ethics, and Rights, for seventeen years, and developed and offered many short courses. All within the rubric of behavioral and social sciences. She was the Head of the Division of Behavioral and Social Science until the Division lasted. Her primary focus was on community participation, equity, bioethics, and rights. She was a member of the Ethics Review Committee and Hospital Ethics Committee, and of AKU’s Bioethics Group. She has two Masters’ degrees in philosophy –one from Karachi University, and the other from McMaster University. She was also a Ph.D. candidate in the department of religious studies at Mc Master University. She has done extensive work for the urban poor of Karachi and rural areas of Sindh with a focus on women and children through a participatory approach. Ms. Khan is one of the founding directors of the Community Engagement Center (CEC) of Indus Health Network, experimenting and promoting the SALT approach for community engagement.

Mr. Naeem Ilyas Khanani is member of Governing Board of HANDS. He is Director Operations & Technical Services at Shield Corporation Limited. He has obtained Master of Business Administration (MBA) Marketing/Marketing Management, General, from Newport University, and Post Graduate Qualification in Social Enterprise Development (LUMS McGill) Operations Management and Degree of Bachelor’s in Electrical\ Engineering from NED University of Engineering and Technology. He is Former Director Operations & Technical Services at PharmEvo Private Limited.
Ms. Sabina Khatri

Ms. Sabina Khatri is a member of the Governing Board of HANDS. She is an Educationist, Nutritionist and a Social Worker. She has done a Diploma in Nutrition and Fitness from Penn Foster High School, Certification for Fitness professional from AAFA (Aerobic and Fitness Association of America), Senior Fitness, First Aid and CPR. She is the Founder and Chairperson of the Kiran Foundation and Philanthropist group called NEEED Welfare work.
Dr. Aisha Mehnaz

She graduated from Dow Medical College as a premier medical colleague in Pakistan. She did her fellowship from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan and a master’s in Health Professional Education. She has served as Head of the Pediatric Dept. at DUHS (Dow University of Health Sciences) and as Associate Dean of Medical Education at CPSP. Dr. Aisha is Chairperson of Konpal, an NGO working for Children’s Rights and against all kinds of child abuse and maltreatment. Extensively worked in the area of children’s health and protection. A particular area of interest in Infectious diseases, Child development and learning disorders, Liver and GI diseases, Child Protection, medical education, and Research. She has published over a hundred original papers, articles, and reports in reputable journals and newspapers. Also the recipient President’s Gold medal award for services to children’s health care and protection and Ashoka Award for social entrepreneurship

Mr. Abdul Qadir Memon is a leading tax practitioner in Pakistan and Founder of A. Qadir & Company with experience of over forty years. His in depth understanding of tax law and expertise in legislative matters has enabled him to play a vital role to assist the Government of Pakistan in drafting laws relating to the field of taxation and corporate laws. He currently holds the office of President of Pakistan Bar Association and Director of State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan and has held a number of prominent positions including President of Karachi Tax Bar Association, President of Junior Chamber International Pakistan and Memon Professional Forum, SECP’s nominee for director of Karachi Stock Exchange (now known as Pakistan Stock Exchange); Chairman & director of National Clearing Company of Pakistan.
