Training and Development is regarded as the most important tool for employee motivation and organizational/personal development. Recognizing the training, development and learning needs necessary to equip staff with the capabilities required to contribute to organization success and progress their careers is therefore key.
The training needs assessment is a critical activity for the training and development function. In HANDS training and development program involves a sequence of steps that are grouped into five phases:
- Needs assessment
- Training Planning
To be effective and efficient, all training programs start with a needs assessment. Long before any actual training occurs, the General Manager HR & ID determines the who, what, when, where, why and how of training. This is done by keeping the following factors in context:
- HANDS mission, vision, goals and objectives.
- Jobs and related tasks that need to be learned.
- Competencies and skills that are need to perform the job.
- Individuals who are to be trained.
