The great achievement of last year is the registration of HANDS international with charity commission of England and Wales. This will complement HANDS Pakistan in terms of technical and financial support. HANDS therefore will be able to enhance its canvas globally.
HANDS has completed 34 years of its life (Alhamdulillah), beginning in 1979 has now reached at a height where many non profit organizations dream to reach. It is a classic example of organization evolution and a case study for development professionals.
The journey of HANDS started with a Primary Health Care project in 05 villages of Karachi rural which gradually transformed into an integrated community development model. HANDS has now expanded its span of work to 35 districts of Pakistan in 2014 with well equipped offices. HANDS is supported by more than thousand volunteers, reaching to more than 20,274 villages/settlements and more than 16.2 million population of the country. HANDS model is a bouquet of its eleven programs which include Social Mobilization, Gender And Development, Human & Institutional Development, Monitoring Evaluation & Research, Information Communication Resource & Advocacy, Health Promotion, Education and Literacy, Livelihood Enhancement, Infrastructure Development Energy WASH and Shelter (IDEAS), Disaster Management, and Social Marketing.
This profile 2014 is an attempt to capture and share the experience of last 34 years and Best Practice models of each program. HANDS has successfully applied these models in its intervention areas for the communities. These models are offered here to all the developing organizations to take advantage from our experiences and replicate these models in their respective intervention areas. We are providing this opportunity for others to learn from our lessons and success stories in the process of implementation and not to go through the same learning cycle through which we have gone in all these years. This profile also narrates the historical events that occurred in the organization life cycle.
The major achievement for the last year was the registration of HANDS International with charity commission of England and Wales. This will complement HANDS Pakistan in terms of technical and financial support. HANDS therefore will be able to enhance its canvas globally.
We are very optimistic that true and endless efforts of HANDS will adorn Pakistan with healthy, educated, prosperous and equitable society. We appeal to all concerns to make their contribution in terms of time, money and efforts to bring this dream come true.
